1 May 2023 - TRACIT's Director General Jeffrey Hardy addressed the World Free Zones Organization ("World FZO") AICE2023. He noted the important responsibility of free zones to guard against illicit trade. 1 March 2023 - TRACIT signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Universal Postal Union (UPU), a UN specialized agency and the postal sector's primary forum for international cooperation. 16 February 2023 – TRACIT submitted a statement for the record to the Senate Finance Committee relating to its February 16th hearing on “Ending Trade that Cheats American Workers By Modernizing Trade Laws and Enforcement, Fighting Forced Labor, Eliminating Counterfeits, and Leveling the Playing Field.” In its statement, TRACIT outlined steps that Congress can take to address illicit trade in the US and across the world. 2 February 2023 – TRACIT welcomes the United States Trade Representative (USTR) 2022 Review of Notorious Markets for Counterfeiting and Piracy report, naming 39 online and 33 physical markets that sell counterfeit and pirated goods. TRACIT agrees with the USTR’s findings that many ecommerce and social media platforms have stepped up but more must be done to protect consumers, workers and legitimate sellers. More..
