Today the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) released a critical report bringing to light the public health dangers and the negative economic impacts caused by the explosive growth of illicit trade in alcohol. The report, “Illicit Trade in High-Risk Sectors: Illicit alcohol and implications on public health and criminal networks,” was presented to a meeting of government officials hosted by the EU Anti-Fraud Office (OLAF) and the EU Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) to improve combatting IPR crime in the wine and spirits sector.

TRACIT and ANA strengthen cooperation to stop illicit trade through Panama
TRACIT and the Panama Customs Authority (ANA) signed an MOU to deepen collaboration between the two organizations on fighting illicit trade. The agreement highlights the pervasive nature of illicit trade as a problem throughout the region and is based on a deeper exchange of information and expertise to more effectively address counterfeiting, corruption and money laundering. It also seeks to build working relationships with other customs agencies in the region to enable better government-to-government cooperation across borders. More...
